A new book!

Tesla: The Opera will offer readers an immersive portrait of the opera about Nikola Tesla, Violet Fire, created with my libretto and a score by minimalist composer Jon Gibson. Violet Fire received its first performance in Philadelphia, its world premiere in Serbia, Tesla’s homeland, and its US premiere in New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s Next Wave Festival.

The book, which I’m editing, will offer the full libretto, photographs from the performances, excerpts from the score, and commentary by me, director Terry O’Reilly, choreographer Nina Winthrop, and novelist/essayist/poet Andrei Codrescu, whose novel Messi@h, features Tesla as a character. Tesla’s legacy has been obscured even as his name has become widely known in connection with electric cars. This book will offer a revealing and heartfelt testament to the real, stranger-than-fiction visionary inventor.
Tesla: The Opera will be published by Fomite Press, with a planned publication date of July 2025.
